Trim and Finisher

Job description for Finish and Trim Laborer – for full time employees at Georgian Bay Homes and Renovations. The following is a non exhaustive list of expectations from full time employees at Georgian Bay Homes and Renovations.

Ensuring the job site is safe which can include, but not limited to:

 

  • Following all safety procedures, either through direct knowledge or by following the instructions of the lead person on site
  • Having safety shoes while working on site
  • Wearing safety helmets, if required, on job site
  • Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling and storing materials properly
  • Picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use

Working with and assisting site supervisor and other employees, including contractors or trades, to do what is required to help complete the task at hand and can include such things as, but not limited to:

 

  • Prepping and protecting materials and finished products from damage, with things such as, spreading tarps, cardboard, etc.
  •  Installation of cabinets, hanging doors, framing rooms or other assembly jobs
  • Replacement of plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and faucets. (No plumbing experience required)
  • Hanging of electrical fixtures such as lights, switches or plugs
  • Hanging, repair, and replacement of drywall as needed for new and existing rooms.
  • Installation of floors, including wood floors, carpeting, and other flooring types.
  • Install of new tilework on floors and walls, install new grout, and/or repair existing tile.
  • Painting, priming, trim work or other finish jobs as required
  • Assisting in the repair or protection of other existing property elements, if necessary
  • Follow construction plans and site supervisor as requested
  • Assisting Georgian Bay Homes and Renovations employees with jobs as required

The understanding that this is a manual work position requiring physical strength for lifting or moving materials such as:

 

  • Finish materials
  • Flooring materials
  • Lumber
  • Cabinets

When proper certification is obtained:

 

  • Accessing heights on ladders or scaffolds to complete tasks or help others
  • Making sure all climbing equipment is properly secured and safe to be on
  • Maintaining a safe work environment

Experience in using a variety of hand tools such as:

 

  • Hammers
  • Screw drivers
  • Hand saw
  • Levels
  • ETC

Experience in using a variety of power tools such as:

 

  • Drills
  • Skill saws
  • Table saws
  • Chop saws
  • Tile saw
  • Pressure washers
  • ETC

Clean and maintain the cleanliness of the job site such as

  • Sweeping
  • Loading, removing or disposing of debris and waste
  • Stacking materials
  • Putting away tools throughout the day
  • Keeping site organized for everyone
  • Cleaning up or fixing possible safety hazards
  • Bring to the attention, to others, any possible safety concerns

 

Customer service related activities:

 

  • Understanding this is a customer service orientated position
  • With the understanding customers are present a lot of the time
  • Requiring strict adherence to language on the job site
  • Respect to customers property
  • Respecting the company policy of not communicating company ideals or problems to the customer
  • Understanding that customers can change their minds but must be done through company channels
