Construction Sales, Estimating

We are a progressive construction and renovation company looking for the right individual to join us. This position involves working directly with our site supervisor, preparing estimates, and managing relationships with clients. It is a full-time position with benefits. Construction Sales and Estimating Duties include:

  • Responding to leads obtained through our advertisements, referrals, and repeat business.
  • Meeting sales goals
  • Visiting job sites, customers homes or office to meet prospective clients.
  • Talking to the client to get their ideas and requirements.
  • Communicating customer information to the office
  • Understanding that customer service is a main part of this position.
  • Gathering relevant information by talking to the customer, producing specifications and measurements for pricing through hand drawings, photographs, written documentation and blueprints
  • Developing and preparing estimates for the customer, getting feedback and make necessary changes, if possible, to fit the customers ideals, needs and wants.
  • Getting drawings started for construction, renovation, or permit requirements.
  • Introducing sales presentations and product demonstrations to the customer, as well as, negotiating contracts, obtaining deposits and progression draws from customers.
  • Having a good understanding of the sales process in the construction industries.
  • Maintaining technical and practical knowledge through education and training through workshops and technical publications to keep on top of changes in building codes, regulations, and new product development to stay current on future developments. Company paid for any relevant courses required.
  • Visiting the job site with and without the customer to keep yourself and the customer informed.
  • Visiting the job site to inspect and follow up with site supervisor and contractors to confirm conformality to customer design, requirements, wants and needs.
  • Developing solutions to customer problems
  • Knowing the role, of the office sales and estimating position, will change based on how each job is structured (new build, renovation, or combination of both and between commercial or residential)
  • Knowing the basics of obtaining Building permits to facilitate getting permits and permit requirements such as engineering.
  • Understanding the necessity of maintaining timelines and budgets
  • Preparing weekly reports on progress
  • Understanding and promoting the company
  • Knowing company policies on safety, construction, warranties, and programs

Construction Sales and Estimating requirements

  • Have ARIDO, CIDA or equivalent accreditations is an advantage
  • Experience in kitchen design software such as 2020 design/ Auto Cad
  • 3 or more years of previous working experience in construction estimating and / or sales experience windows, doors, or construction.
  • Familiarity with computer programs such as word, excel, Microsoft project.
  • Knowledge and experience with other design or drafting programs is an asset.

  • Familiar with current building codes

  • Know how to take on-site measurements for estimating and design requirements.
